Archive - the Standard Coosa Thatcher Mill

The engine of a neighborhood.

The Standard Coosa Thatcher Mill wasn't just a factory. At its peak, more than 2,000 workers passed through its doors each day, and for decades the mill defined the Southside.
When the textile industry declined, the mill went quiet. By 2003, the doors had closed. But the bones remained.

In 2015, the mill was added to the National Register of Historic Places — recognized not just for its architecture, but for its place in Chattanooga's story.

Rather than demolish history, collier chose restoration.

HK Architects and Collier approached the structure with one intention — protect its historic integrity while improving how it lives today. Coosa Lofts aren't inspired by history. They are history, made livable.
